However, if they focused every day on getting better, they’d know what to do on Monday.
The same thing happens to astronauts after they go into space.
Everything they did up to that point had one goal and one goal only:
Their spaceflight.
But when they return, many of them fall into a deep hole.
They develop anxiety, depression, and they start drinking too much. Some even have to go through therapy or need medication.
These principles apply to top athletes, they apply to astronauts – and they apply to you and me.
Instead of chasing fleeting achievements like money, titles or promotions that will never make you happy…
A deep, intrinsic desire to get better every day will take you much farther than superficial motivation ever could.
So the question is:

And that was when I realized that maybe I could live out my purpose more broadly, not “just” as a sports agent.

I loved what I did every day. It’s not that I wasn’t fulfilled
But after each talk I gave, I saw how my message was resonating.

For so long, my purpose had been tied to my career as a sports agent.
I was helping my clients and their families during such a very unique window of time in their lives.
But speaking was different. It gave me the chance to make a bigger impact.
When I decided to go “all in” on speaking, it was scary.
And even though I only had about 10 speaking engagements on my calendar for the upcoming year, that added up to less than 10% of my comp as an agent, I made the leap.

And make it work I did.
