My Top Books of 2021

December 21, 2021 • Book Club

It’s that time of year where I love to share the books that are on my bedside table! These are books that I’ve read this year, am currently reading, or hope to read over the holidays.

Top Books of 2021:

Business Adventures: Twelve Classic Tales from the World of Wall Street by John Brooks. by John Brooks. Incredibly powerful business stories from iconic companies! I really look at this book as a business Bible.

Resonate: Present Visual Stories that Transform Audiences by Nancy Duarte. My coach recommended this one to me, it’s a book on how to improve public speaking through storytelling. Anyone interested in improving their public speaking should check this one out.

Falling Upward: A Spirituality for the Two Halves of Life by Richard Rohr. I just turned 50 and it’s been an interesting perspective shift as I move into the “second half” of my life. The second half of life isn’t just about getting old; it can be can and should be full of spiritual richness. This book was recommended to me by a friend, Ian Morgan Cron who I’ve had on my podcast. Ian is an Enneagram expert and is launching a new book on December 28th, called, The Story of You.

Tiny Habits: The Small Changes That Change Everything by BJ Fogg. BJ was a guest on my podcast and his book offers practical takeaways that make lasting change possible.

Rocket Fuel: The One Essential Combination That Will Get You More of What You Want from Your Business by Gino Wickman. This is a great book about how visionaries and operators within a company can work together better.

Rest, Eat, Move by Chris Johnson. Chris is a great friend of mine and I’ve leaned into him for years as a fitness coach. This book is not about fads; it’s about teaching a sustainable way to feel your best.

Once an Eagle: A Novel by Anton Myrer. This one was recommended to me by General Stan McChrystal when he was on my podcast. When I learned it is required reading for West Point cadets, I immediately put it on my list.

Lead Like Jesus: Lessons From the Greatest Leadership Role Model of All Time by Ken Blanchard and Phil Hodges. I pick up this book every week and glean new insights about leadership. As a woman of faith, I love this one to help me keep centered on my spiritual and leadership path.

I hope you enjoy these selections — happy reading!
